MR HUNTER'S BENEFIT.
| -+ TO THE EDITOR. : SIR, — In yov~ issue of the 14th inst. appca... a letter signed "Performer" asking for information in reference to the above. The proceeds of the benefit are as under: — ! Rcceivd from (Mr D. Matheson, Waikaia, LI ; Mr D. Lamb, LI ; Mr T. R. Carroll, L 2 10s ; Mr T. Ambrose, 10s ; Mr Roche, 7s 6d ; Mr H. Howells, 5s ; Mr D. Kellie, 5s ; besides 54 ticke*" taken at the door — making a total of Ll2 12s 6d, which amount h? a been pad to Mr Hunter some time ago. This amount will probably be increased, pq there are still the tickets to be received from four parties who had them to dispose of. This amount is clear of any deduction, for wbea I .saw how small the sum wns I at once undertook to pay all expenses in connection v Ith the affuir myself, amounting to L 5. In addition to this I gave the free use of the hall and piano, lights, and found refreshments. lam sou/ to be compelled to have to allude t3 such tiifl.es in the pubic press, but since " Performer " is so imperative in his demand there is no ot her course open for me. William Morris. Chatton, November 21st, 18$4.
