CRICKET NOTES.

i « There was not a good turnout on Friday last for the alphabetical match. The members want a little or rather a big rousing up, if we are to do anything this season, oimson captained the lower half of the alphabet, and Douglas the former, The last-named won the toss, and elected ito send his opponents in. The result was a funeral procession, as Dewar was in goodjjform, bowling from the upper end. Of the seven wickets to fall he got credit for six, Labatt getting the other. The wind was dead across the pitch so that bowling from the lower end was not a desirable position. The only player on this side who got into double figures was Scott, who made a hit to the on" which would have been four anywhere but he and Ilusha ran eight for it before " lost ball " was crlled out. The innings closed for 25, including four extras. The other side ("reversed the figures, making 52. The top scorer"was Douglas, who made 30 before he succumbed to Eeiach, who was not put on till late in the innings. Simson was not bowling nearly &o well as usual, being, as he said, incommoded by the pitch, which was very bumpy, ', even with the matting. A little sand under the cocoanut would remedy this. Douglas'score was cheifly in doubles, and of these the bulk were off his favorite cuts. The other play does not call for particular notice. I understand that nextfFriday a match, arranged on the basis of Scotch, or of ! Scotch descent, v the World, will be played. I intend in future to publish the names of the teams on Friday mornings, so that those chosen will not be able to forget their obligation to attend. I append the scores : — L. t« Z.
