OTAGO LAND BOARD.
At the weekly meeting on Wednesday last the following local business was transacted : —
The Board decided to recommend the Government to issue grants to J. Bellamy for section 6, block XIX, Tapanui, and section 4, block IX, Kelso, under the Immigrants Land Act,
Ranger Hughan, reporting on the petition of settle™ in Chatton and Waikaka district asking that the township reserve in block 11, Chatton, be subdivided into small areas for working men, stated that the reserve in block VIII was more suitable for a township, and recommended that it be surveyed into small areas for village settlement. He suggested that the lection in question should be opened for perpetual leasing or sale on deferred-pay. ; ments.— lt was resolved, to recommend the Government to proclaim the township reserve a village settlement, and have it surveyed into small farm allotments — sections fronting the main and district roads to be not more tban two acres, and offered at £5 per acre ; back sections, from five to ten acres, upset price £5 per acrs.
On the application of Messrs Connell and Moodie, a sawmill license was issued to 15. W. Gowdy over 50 acres in block VIII. Glcnkenich, for a year, at 4s per acre.
A memo, was received from the Undersecretary for Crown Lands asking that unsold Crown lands in Clinton town district should be withdrawn from sale until the matter. o£ endowment is settled.— Agreed to.
Messrs Connell and Moodic, for Mr W, L. Boyer, applied for a return of deposit pai.l ou 20th June last on his tender for leaso of ■ection 4, block X, Waikaia district. — lieferred to the Government.
T. Perkins, trustee in the estate oC A. G. Earle, wrote askiDg that deferred-payment section 6, block I, Wendonside, should be transferred to him as trust©©, — The Board decided they bad hoi power to oomply with the request,
