OTARIA ROAD BOARD.

From the Treasury, showing that ' the amount of £85 17s 4d was due io the .Board for roads in deferred payment blocks in' the district. This would be handed over on receipt of plans of roadlines appro ved by the Waste Lands Board. — Held over until the late clerk, Mr Gamrd, could bo preseut to explain the matter. :

From the County Council of Southland, notifying that the alteration^ K in i the boundaries of the Tuiurau and; 6#j^ia Boad Districts had been gazetted. ; '" From the Provincial District Auditor, transmitting the annual statement, which showed that the Board started! . the : [last financial year with a .small credit balance and closed it with a bank overdraft of £349, in addition to an indebtedness on debentures of nearly £3000. The auditor suggested Borne changes in the method of keeping" the books of tha Board. On the motion .o* Messrs Elliot and Stewart the statementwas received and ordered to be advertised.; .It wa3 also agreed that a new set of books should be procured. ' • From the Tutnrau Road Board ask'injp for • a copy of the iat& r6ll and a "^tracing 1 'of ; the area recently . severed ! from Otaria and annexed by Tuturau. This was necessary in order to satisfactorily allocate the debt. — The clerk intimated that this matter had been arranged, „ , From Mr Arthur, chief surveyor (Duneclm), applying for a statement of the sections or I blocks of land in which the light should be exercised to legalise necessary roads, which ought to be acquired through lands already sold or Crown-granted.— Held over, in ;the absence of definite information. ,

From the Treasury, intimating that £28 12s had been placed to the Board's 1 - credit on account of roads through land' soldi on deferred payments. '

From Carl O'Hagen, Puketaa,' asking that a crossing should be put in from the road to the footpath near his house. . He was willing to do. the work for 30s, and in view of [the straitened condition of the Board's finances, ho wot Id hare no objection to waiting :for ; tho money. — Mr J. McKanzie moved that the offer be accepted, the amount net to', be' paid tot six months. Carried.

MIBOBLLANEOUB BUSINESS. \ *'< It was intimated that as y*tnosatiifactory' adjustment of the accounts between,- Mr ; W« Henderson and the Board had been made*. Mr Elliot .moved tnat Mr Henderson; be written to. to the effect that if the moneys held by him for the Board wore not handed over within five days legal proceedings would be instituted for their, recovery.
