SOUTHLAND GRAIN REPORT.

The Southland Farmers' Co-operatire Association's report for the week ending to-day, is as follows : — Since last report the weather has been unsettled, and has in some cases slightly retarded harvesting operations. During the present week the farmers have been busy cutting, and a great many have finished and have their grain hi stack ready for threshing. The wheat market still keeps up in price, and advices from other colonies expect a still further advance, the deliveries of both wheat and flour being greatly under what they were last year. In Adelaide and Melbourne we hear of large fliiies of 50,000 and 30,000 bushels having been placed at 5s 7Jd and 5s 6d respectively. The farmers in the other colonies are still holding and. storing rather t\ian accept lower rates. The Melbourne oat market is, if auj'thing, lower than it was since our last report, and not in much request but holders are slightly firmer, expecting an advance. Tlio prico of oats is quoted at from 2s 9d to 3s 6d per bushel. Malting barley is firm, and sellers, anticipating a short crop, are not anxious to sell : it may be quoted at 5s 6d to 5s 8d per bushel. Grain freights are still low, and. we hear of many vessels .leaving Melbourne in bnllnst for other ports with the intention of securing, cargo at higher rates than ruling at Adelaide or Mcl bourne. The Home market for wheat has still further advanced, Australian wheat being quoted at 52s 6d and New Zealand as high as 50s, according to quality. Wheat: There arc still inquiries for wheat and farmers will do well to get threshed early and secure the rates now ruling.
