In New York recently two employes started in a waggon to carry some money to the bank. One man had cheques in his pocket, and sat oil a bundle of bank notes, his feet resting on the bag containing the specie. At Lexington Avenue, between Forty-seventh and Forty-eighth Streets, a good residential locality, a second wagon, driven recklessly up from behind, ran against the team. To the bystanders it appeared a needless accident; but it was really an audacious and skilful robbery. One of the three men in the second wagon seized the employe and threatened him with a pistol, and demanded the money. A determined struggle took place until the second robber came to the aid of the first, and threw the bills into their own wagon. Ths bag of specie, however, weighing (301 b, was torn from their grasp when jumping back into the wagon. They drove off at a furious pace. The employes attempted pursuit in their wagon, but found the reins were cut. They then pursued on foot, and repeatedly shot at the robbers, who escaped with 10,000 dollars. There is no satisfactory clue as to their identity.
