SPRING CREEK ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Board was held on Wednesday, the 3rd inst. at 2 p.m. The members present were—-Messrs J. H. Redwood (chairman), William Robinson, C. Dodson, C. O’Dwyer, and Rowden Soper. Tim minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. A letter was read from Mr T. Redwood in which he declined to allow - the setuleis of Spring Creek to use the private road which lie has laid out through his Section 05 Omaka. The following tenders for forming and ditching a portion of O’Dwyers’ road were received:—Neal and Kinzett, ISs per chain; Harling and Craven, 14s 11<1 ; J. O’Donogliue, 12s 3d : P. Sheehan, 10s 9d; the tender of P. Sheehan was accepted. The Secretary reported that he. had served notices on Messrs Y\ . J. Robinson, H. Rogerson, E. Fairhall, and T. O’Lea y, requesting them to trim their gorse hedges and grub up from the road any gorse that may have spread from the said hedges. In reply to the Chairman, the Secretary said the notices were in accordance w ith the “Public Works Act, IS7G.”
In accordance with instruction’.-: received at last meeting the Inspector reported '•!• the various works required to Hillock s road, School road, Selmes road, A ratt s road, and Mills' and Fords' road. On the motion of the Chairman, seconded by Mr Dodson, the Secretary was instructed to call for tenders for the above works in accordance with the report of the Inspector. On the motion of Mr C. O'Dwyer, the Chairman and Messrs Dodson u ere appointed to open the tenders and accept. The Inspector was instructed to examine the main road from March's Junction Hotel to the railway gate add report to next
meeting. „ The following accounts were passed ior payment: —F. Beamsly advance on contract Hillock’s Bridge £SO P. Sheehan and Co., work on O'Dwyer’s road £1 Us lid. The Board then adjourned.
The committee appointed by the Spring Creek Road Board consisting ot the ( hairman and Messrs George Dodson and Bowden Soper, met on Wednesday last at 7 p.m., for the purpose of opening the tentiers which had been received for the following works: — Metalling Hillock’s Bead at per chain: — Marling anti Craven, Bis (id (accepted) : Kennedy and Jermeyn, 17s: G. McKinley, His; J," Nolan, 21s: J. Healy, 21s; J. Morrin, 22s (id ; I. Hunter, 22s (id ; Andrell and A linear, 22s lid: 11. G. O'Leary, 375. A tender was also received at 22s per chain, hut the contractor forgot to sign his name. Metalling School Road, at per chain:— Alex. Cameron, 21s lid (accepted) ; Andrell ami Annear, 22s ml ; J. Hunter, 235; J. Healy, 24s ; Kin/.ett ami Neal, 30s. Repairs to Selmes’ Road for the whole work:—T. Healy, £23 (accepted); Kinzett and Neal, £2O Ins ; \\ . Annear and Flsmore, L4O 10-s. Raising Mills’ and Fords’ Road, for the whole work:—l. O’Donoghue, Ll 9 14s (accepted) : Harling and Craven, L 22 ; ,1. Hunter, L 22 ; Kennedy and Jermeyn, L2n ; Flsmore ami Co., L 34 His. Five tenders were received for the work required at Wratt’s Road hut as the committee considered they were all too high, the Secretary was instructed to call for fresh tenders in time for the next monthly meeting.
