VOLUNTEER PARADES.

To the Editor. Sir,—l am much surprised, now that a Drill Instructor is here, at the the small attendance of the Volunteers at parade. 1 notice from a post-card received to-day that parades will take place three times a week during November, and that fines will he enforced for non-attendance. Fearing that until fines are rigorously enforced the Company will never improve 1 trust this is no empty threat. We have heard a great deal about fines in the past but I never heard of any being enforced yet.—l am, &c.. A Volunteer.
