MATAMATA. The Farmers’ Auctioneering Co. held their usual sale at Matamata on Wednesday. There was not a large yarding, but there was a good attendance of buyers and bidding was keen. Ibices were:—Cattle: Light fat steers £7 to £7 ss; fat cows, £4 10s to £b> lighter sorts, £3 to £4; stove cows £1 to £1 10s; yearling heifers, £2 19s to £3 ss; smaller sorts,. £2 to £2 10s. Sheep: Fat ewes, £1 17s; fat sheep, £1 12s 3d to £1 16s; fat hoggets, £1 12s fid. Pigs: Light porkers, £2 2s, weaners, £1 to £1 3s 6d; slips, £ 8s to £1 15s. HAMILTON. At the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co.’s Frankton sale on Tuesday there - was a small entry of beef and sheep and a fair yarding of store cattle. Both steers and cow beef showed a considerable improvement on the previous market. Better competition was also shown on store cattle of all classes, while the bidding on fat sheep was anything but brisk. Medium fat steers made up to £lO 2s 6d; smal and unfinished, £5 10s to £6 4s; medium fat cows, £5 to £o ss; fresh-con-ditioned cfws, £3 to £4; good 15months Shorthorn steers, £2 13s; small, 36s to £2 2s; well grown 15months Shorthorn heifers# £2 15s to £2 19s; small, 31s to £2 2s; good framed store cows, £2 15s to £o 3s, others, £2 to £2 ss. Sheep: Fat wethers, 325; good forward 4-tooth wethers, 29s 2d; fat lambs, 24s 6tT. A full yarding of fat and store pigs were penned, the quality of the lats was a good deal better than the pievious week; therefore there was a slight improvement in prices. Heavy baconers, £4 to £4 ss; medium, £3 14s to £3 19s; lighter baconers and gooporkers, £3 5s to £3 10s; light to medium porker?, £2 10s to £3; tmfimsh- {?, ed 35s to £2 ss; slips, 27s to 345; best A weaners, £1 to £1 7s; small, 15s to 17s. ' . „ -y CLEAKING SALE. A clearing sale on behalf of Mr. H. 'A. Boyd, Overdale, Putaruru, was held at the farm on Friday by the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co. The attendance was. large and although was no lack of demand for practically everything offered prices did -3aot reach a very good level. For the - pedigree red poll cows in milk the bidding ranged between £4 4s and £lO 10s, though one animal sold at £l9 19s. For grade cows better prices up to £l9 were realised. Yearling pedigree red poll heifers sold at £5 5s and pedigree red poll bulls at £4 4s to £6 6s. Beef: Ox fores, 33d; ox hinds, 4 1 ,d; Cow fores, 2!d; cow hinds, 33d. Argentine chilled beef, ox fores, 33d; ox hinds, 55d. Argentine frozen beef, ox fores, 33d; ox hinds, 43d. Frozen pork, under 1001 b, 73d; 1201 b to 1801 b, 75d. Lamb and wether mutton market is quiet but film, supplies sufficient to meet demands. Ewe mutton: Prices show firmer tendency. Beef market is depressed owing to heavy arrivals from Argentine.
