REPAIRS REQUIRED. Damage by Through Traffic. The Auckland Automobile Association has written to the Rotorua Chamber of Commerce stating that thoy had communicated with the Public Works Department with respect to renovating the Mamaku road, especially that part in the. Matamata county and that the Minister had replied promising consideration; they had also written to the Matamata Council urging the necessity of putting the road in order, and had received a reply pointing out that most of the land abutting on the said road was Crown land; that the rates from the settlers were sufficient to keep th*j road in fair order; that it was the through traffic that wore out the road and suggesting that the association and the Rotorua Chamber of Commerce | combine to find the necessary funds, j —lt was decided to write to the Minister of Public' Works and Tourist and Health Resorts asking .for a straight out grant, pointing out- the importance of the road and enclosing the replies from the Automobile As- , sociafton and the Matamata County Council.
