THE DEVELOPMENT BOARD.
A meeting' of the Putaruru District Development Board was held in Mr. J. R. 0. Lochlnud's office, Putaruru, on Tuesday evening. Mr. Loehhcad, as the chairman, presiding'. APPARENT DISCOURTESY. The Thames Valley Power Board having failed to reply to several sue ccssive communications from the boavd asking it to complete the promised canvass of the Putaruru district, the chairman was deputed to arrar-ge a deputation to wait on the next meeting of the Power Board to ascertain why it had thus ignore I these communications and to endeavour to have the canvass completed. AIIAPUNI MAIL. 1+ was resolved to write the chief postmaster, Hamilton, asking that when a daily mail service to Arapunwas required an opportunity be give" locally for tenders to be submitted for such a service from Putaruru, tlu. board understanding that at least one tender would be forthcoming. MORE TELEPHONES. The chairman,was deputed to interview the local postmaster on the subject of having the additional telephones applied for installed without further delay. It was stated that tv total would then possibly reach 100, entitling tha subscribers to an extension of the telephone hours. APPRECIATION. A motion expressing appreciation of the work Mr. H. W. Bullock had donn as a member of the board wa -. carried unanimously. It was explaineJ that current circumstances automatically involved Mr. Bullock's. resignation.
