Ho had sold bis farm in the county, and was not entitled to hold office. He spoke of the many pleasant days spent round the Council table, and of the good feeling which had always existed. Cr. Pohlen, in moving that the resignation be accepted with regret, stated that Cr. Potts had been a good member, and a strong riding advocate. He felt sure that bis retirement would be a loss to the county. Cr. Barnett also spoke in complimentary terms of Cr. Potts’ services. At this stage Cr. Barnett also stated that lie wished to resign. He staled that he had served continuously since the Council was formed. He was at present on fourteen committees, and was feeling the effects of overwork. He had resolved some two years ago to resign when the war was finished, and he would now like to be relieved, so that lie could devote more time to his own business. Crs. Stopford and Pohlen botli urged Cr. Barnett to reconsider his decision, and remain in office at least until the general election. Cr. Barnett said lie did not wish to inconvenience the Council, and if the wish was unanimous he would conform. Jt was decided that Cr. Barnett be asked to remain in office until November next.
