TIRAU.
An effort to grow potatoes has been made for several seasons in succession by a resident of Tirau. At present he has two acres of potatoes down, and the shoots are just showing. The potatoes have been grown in a different paddock each year, and superphosphate and lime are used as manure. Breeze’s Prolific, Gamekeeper, and Up-to-date are the varieties grown. | Last year the settler sent a truck of potatoes to Auckland and did | well out of them. He also sold a | large,quantity: of_seed._ , A painful accident happened to ' Mr Leonard Flynn at the Tirau saw-mill on Tuesday. He was operating a saw when an emery wheel near by flew off its shaft and struck him in the face, inflicting a nasty injury. Mr Flynn was driven to Matamata for medical attention.
