PUTARURU.

The monthly meeting of the Putaruru District Development Board was held on Wednesday. Mr W. C. Hewitt presided. SOLDIERS’ SETTLEMENT. The Hon. D. H. Guthrie, Minister for Lands, wrote stating that he had instructed Mr H- M., Skeet, Commissioner of Crown Lands, to have the experimental farm at Lichfield divided into two and made available for soldiers’ settlement as requested. COURT AT PUTARURU. The Minister of Justice wrote

stating that sittings of the Magistrate’s Court would be held periodically at Putaruru. MEDICAL ASSOCIATION. A communication was received from the Waikato Charitable Aid Board suggesting that, in lieu of the proposed cottage hospital at Putaruru, the residents should form themselves into a medical association with a view to having a district nurse stationed at Putaruru. The Board offered to subsidise subscriptions to the extent of 24s for every £l. TELEPHONE SERVICE. Dissatisfaction was expressed at the delay experienced in putting in the large number of telephones applied for by Putaruru residents. It was stated that there was still a shortage of insulators, although an additional switchboard was now available. It was decided to communicate further with the Telegraph Department with a view to expediting action.
