TURANGA-O-MOANA.

Unveiling Ceremony The Roll of Honour, erected at the Turanga-o-nioana hall in memory of the soldiers of that district who took part in the war, was unveiled on Saturday afternoon, October 11th, by Mr JPrice, of Matamata, in the pres-' ence of the school children, residents, and a great number of visitors. The hall was prettily decorated for the occasion. The ceremony was opened by singing the National Anthem. Mr C. W. Arnold, chairman, then asked all to rise in honour of those soldiers who had given their lives in this war. The Rev Jackson, of Matamata, to the incidents that led up to the war, and told feelingly of the noble deeds our soldier boys had performed. Rev. Jefferson, Methodist minister, made a most appropriate speech in similar terms, and said, for those who had fallen that they would be remembered with pride and honour for all time.

The memorial is made of oak, photos and names of the men honoured being inscribed thereon. There were 29 names in all, of whom four had made the Supreme Sacrifice.

In unveiling the roll of honour Mr Price asked those present never to forget the brave men who fought and won the great victory over the might of Germany. To the relatives and friends of the fallen they desired toom|v»v J,|iahS y m ais e y and M. Edwards sang appropriate items in a most pleasing manner. Misses E- and V. Maisey played a duet which was much appreciated. A dainty afternoon tea was then handed round by the ladies of Turanga-o-moana..

Mrs Pendray, Mr W. Pendray, and Mr Oxley have been the guests of Mrs A. C. Vosper. Mr W. Pendray is Mrs Vosper’s brother, and recently retur.nod from Egypt. He left New Zealand with the main body.
