ROLL OF HONOR.

Private Thomas Hargreaves. The sad news of the death of Private Thomas Hargreaves, at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Netley, has been received by Mr C. A. Stopford. Private Hargreaves, who left with the 35th reinforcements, received shrapnel wounds in the thigh on October 9th, 1918. After lying in hospital in France for five months he was removed to Netley, where it was found necessary to amputate the leg at the hip socket. The lad never recovered from the operation and just faded away. Private Hargreaves was in Mr Stopford’s care and employment for nine years, and his employer states that a more honorable lad never walked New Zealand; consequently he made a host of friends in the district who will grieve over his death.
