WALTON.
The orchard on the- property of Messrs Fromm at Walton, recently owned by Mr C. Q. Hutchison, presents a pretty appearance just now. Tho orchard, which covers four acres, is nestled in a flat and is surrounded by belts of tall pines, which afford excellent shelter. Tho peach and nectarine troos are in full blossom and are vory pretty, Ono of tho finest farms in the district is that of Mr W. McLean. Tho paddocks have a close sward of rich grass', and tho undulating country which comprises tho farm looks particularly attractive. Mr W. McLean lias spent three days in-visiting tho farmers of tho Walton district in connection with the petition with regard to hydro-electric power. Mr McLean says ho has not mot with a refusal, and will have more .like 100, per cent, of tho ratepayers signing the petition in his district than tho 23 per cent, required, Tlio late spring has affoctod Walton farmers in common with thoso of other parts of tho district, and they are rogretting tho fact that tho grass is not coining away as quickly as it should.
