WALTON.

VALEDICTORY. A pleasant period was spent in tho Walton hall on Tuesday evening when the settlers of Walton foregathered to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs C. Trapski and family on the eve of their departure from the district. The function took the form of a social and dance. Songs were rendered by Misses M. Fromm and Myra Ross, Mr and Mrs Pennell. A recitation was given by Miss G. Dixon and a violin solo by Mr Blanchfield. Music for tho dancing was supplied by Mrs Kirk, while Mr W. McLean acted as M.C. The guests wore made the recipients of gifts from the settlers and speeches eulogising their good qualities were delivered by "Messrs T. Mears, A. E. Gil lingham and W. Mapp. Reference was made to the good work done by Mr Trapski as a member of the Farmers' Union and as secretary of the school committee. Ho was regarded by everyone as a good citizen and a generous and kindly neighbour. Tribute was also paid to the good qualities of Mrs Trapski, and many expressions of goodwill were made. The company wished Mr Trapski improved health and expressed hope that he and his family would do well wherever they went. Mr Trapski thanked the company for their kindness. He had always found pleasure in helping the district and those about him, and ho was pleased to see that his effort was appreciated.
