VALIDICTORY.

Mr and Mrs R. Summerville. A farewell afternoon was tendered to Mr and Mrs R. Summerville by friends and relatives at Mr and M rs J. E. West’s residence on Saturday. There was a large attendance and consequently the function proved to be most enjoyable. The afternoon was spent in song, games and complimentary speeches. On Tuesday Mr and Mrs Summerville were entertained by'more friends at an evening held at Mr and Mrs Bond’s residence, Waharoa road. Here also many were present. The guests were the recipients of good wishes for their future welfare, and mementos of their stay in the district. Mrs Summerville was presented with a magnificent ebony-backed mirror, and her husband with a case of pipes, cigarette and cigar holder. A most enthusiastic evening concluded with cheers and the singing of “ Auld Lang Syne.”
