St. ANDREW’S CHURCH.
Annual Meeting. The annual meeting of parishioners of the above church was held on Tuesday of last week. The Rev. R. W. Jackson, Minister of the Church, presided. Mr Fred Jones, treasurer, submitted the annual financial report which was decided as highly satisfactory and duly passed with thanks and congratulation to the treasurer and his staff of voluntary collectors. “ The report of the jumble sale, held recently in tho town hall, was considered and deemed as somewhat extraordinary seeing that during a single afternoon £95 was pursed for special church purposes. Mr Kelso engineered this enterprise with the assistance of a number of enthusiastic and smiling workers. Votes of thanks were accorded Mrs E. C. Banks for supplying flowers for the church, Miss Fagan and Mrs Griffiths for presiding at the organ, Miss E. Banks, Sunday school superintendent, Miss Morrow, school organist, Mrs J. Price for gifts of hymn books. It was decided to separate the offices of secretary and treasurer, Mr F. Jones retaining the latter position and Mrs Kelso being appointed secretary. It was reported that three deaths of respected and highly esteemed members of the church had taken place in recent times, namely, Mrs Lambourne, Mr Kelso and Mrs Walton. Votes of sympathy were passed to the relatives. After a hearty vote of thanks to the chair had been passed a beautiful supply of cake and tea, provided by the ladies of the church, was handed round and much enjoyed.
