WAOTU.
Mr H. Truss, of Waotu road has met with considerable success as a wator-divinor, and tho gift he possesses has been employed to great advantage by himself and neighboring farmers. He has found water and successful bores have been sunk on his own farm, and on the properties of Messrs C. J. Voyce and Walter G. Barnett.
Several subscribers to the Waotu road party line have expressed dissatisfaction with tho present telephone service and the inattention they receive when trying to get central. The lines are loose and are lying closo to tho ground in many places. One settler said that in his efforts to get central he had spent more time than the convenience of tho service was worth. Several said the need for an efficient telephone service in and around Waotu was most pressing.
Mr H. D. Hammond is making excellent progress in breaking-in his 400 acres property at Lichfield. He obtained a fine paddock of turnips last season, and as a comparatively inexperionced farmer is demonstrably doing his share towards exploding tho fallacy that Lichfield pumice land is practically unproductive. Mr H. Fiesst is making good progress with the work of improving the block of 3070 acres at Waotu belonging to Mr P. J. Nathan, of Wellington. "It is the intention of Mr Nathan," said Mr Fiesst, " to break the area up into blocks of 500 acres, 300 improved and 200 rough."
