FOOTBALL.
Owing to tho alteration in tho railway timetable, and other reasons it was deemed advisable to postpone the Putaruru-Matamata match, booked for Saturday last. WAHAROA 6 v. PATETERE 0 At Waharoa the home team played Patetero and secured a win by 6 points to nil. There was no score in the first threequarters of the gamo, but eventually D. Clow and T. Cotter each scored a try. In the last few minutes Waharoa smothered their opponents, but could not add further points. Tho Patetero team was composed entirely of natives, who gave a much hotter exhibition than on tho previous Saturday. They were better than Waharoa in the loose, but as previously, with the exception of Kaka and Penitito showed no knowledge of tho finer points of tho game. Waharoa, on the day, was a weak team, but nevcr-tho-less deserved a win. They played tho last half a man short owing to an injury to a player. Oit, Cotter, and tho centre three-quarter were tho pick of the team. W. Ryan was safe, but was not over worked. Mr W. Ruthe gavo every satisfaction as referee.
