MATAMATA SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
A meeting of the Matamata school committee (increased to nine members) was held on Monday evening. Messrs J. Pohlen (chairman), W. Egan (secretary), J. Draper, E. Lark, W. Ruthe, Rev. Jackson, G. J. Duxfield and A. G. Yardley were present. An amount totalling £22 13s was received from the Auckland Education Board. —It was decided to request the Board to pay all monies direct to the bank in future.
The chairman, secretary and Rev. Jackson were appointed a visiting committee with power to deal with the question of providing tea in the afternoon for the infants. SCHOOL GARDENS.
The headmaster reported on the matter of school garden plots, and the chairman offered half a guinea each for the best boy's and girl's garden plots. The rest of the members of the committee donated a further 20s for second and third prizes. On the motion of Mr Draper it was decided that the committee meet regularly on the first Monday in each month.
