FOOTBALL.

Union Reformed. A meeting of delegates from the Waharoa, Wairere and Matamata football clubs was held this week, when it was decided to reform the Matamata Rugby union. Mr H. Lewis (Waharoa) was elected to the chair and Messrs Pickup, D. Morrow, W. T. Darby, C. E. Waite, T. Douglas, R. Williamson and A. G. Yardley were also present. It was decided to commence the competitions this week. OFFICERS. Officers were elected as follows :—Patron, Mr F. J. Nathan ; president, Mr H. J. Moore-Jones; vice-presidents, Messrs A. K. Weeks, W. F. Bell, Barry, H. Sutherland sr., S. Salisbury, J. Buchanan, J. W. Finnerty, R. Glynn-Lewis, Capt. Tiszard, Uren, Ready, and G. G. Bell; delegates to the South Auckland Rugby union, Messrs Darby and Yardley. THE DRAW. It was resolved to play a two round competition, the draw be ing as follows :—June 14th, Matav. Wairere, at Matamata (Mr W. Ruthe); June 21st, Matamata v. Waharoa, at Waharoa; June 28th, Wairere v. Waharoa, at Matamata. The affilliation fee for clubs was fixed at £1 Is ; it was also decided to affiliate with the South Auckland Rugby union. Clubs will play on the district system and boundaries were drawn up. SATURDAY'S MATCH.

The return trail game between the Wairere and Matamata teams was played at Matamata on Satin control of Mr O. V. Adlum. The Matamata men were in much better form than on the previous Saturday, and reversed the result, winning by 6 points to 3. They were strengthened by the inclusion of the veteran Waite, who saved the line time and again. On the play a draw would have been a fitting result. Matamata's tries were scored by James and Fisher, and Wairere's by H. Sutherland.

The following team will represent Matamata against Wairere on, Saturday next, and are rerequested to attend for training at 7 p.m. on Thursday evening : J. Wallace, Donkin, Connell, Kneebone, Fisher, Burnett, Morrow, James, Thompson, Mokai. Holmes, Connell, Humby, Farrell, Delaney.
