WELCOME HOME.

To Mr and Mrs F. Jones. An interesting function took place in the Matamata Presbyterian church last; Friday afternoon, the occasion being the home-coming of Mr and Mrs Fred. Jones, Peria, after an absence of ten months in the South Island. The chairman, Rev. Jackson, expressed his pleasure at seeing them once more within the walls of the church, and in doing so he was sure he was expressing the sentiment of all present. Continuing, he referred to the unwearied services their guests had rendered in connection with the Sunday school, and to the efficient manner in which Mr Jones had transacteP the dual offices of secretary and treasurer of the church during his, the chairman’s, ministry in Matamata. Mr Jones, in reply, expressed his gratitude at being again among his old friends in the church, and also that he and Mrs Jones were more than glad of the privilege of once more breathing the genial air of the Matamata latitude of the North Island. Mesdames Jackson, Sepie and McWallace sang appropriate solos and duets during the welcome home. Thereafter a delightful service of tea and cake was partaken of, provided and served by the ladies of the congregation. Thus the happy reunion festival, with the benediction, was brought to a close.
