To insure insertion advertisements must roach the office not later than Wednesday afternoons at 4 o’clock. Changes of advertisements Must be sent in not later than Tuesdays at noon.
On account of Easter the “ Record ” will be published on Thursday morning next week. No advertisements will be received after 3on Wednesday afternoon. The annual meeting of the Waharoa Athelic club is being held on Easter Monday. Among those to arrive by the next returning transport, are Corporal W. Morrow and Private J. Stanley. A meeting of farmers is convened to be held in the Peria hall on Saturday afternoon to discuss the formation of a rabbit board.
Mr J. Cartwright, of Matamata, who last week underwent an operation in the Waikato hospital is expected home this weekend.
Mr P. J. Western, recently of Waitoa and Te Aroha, has taken up his residence at Peria road, Matamata, on the estate recently held in lease by Mr T. Bottemley.
Messrs Finnerty and Darby intimate that they are removing into the offices lately vacated by by Mr E. Strong. It is expected that their offices will again shortly be occupied by Mr Frank Hosking.
A social was held in the Public hall,!Matamata,'on Thursday, race night, which was organised by a committee. Despite a counter attraction the attendance was large,and a most enjoyable evening was spent. The music was supplied by Mr Darby’s orchestra and Mr M. McDermott was M.C. The proceeds will be devoted to the Anglican Church Vicarage fund. The annual general meeting ot the Matamata Farmers’ Union will be held on Friday night at 8 p.m. (preceded by a meeting of the executive at 7.30). The report and balance sheet for the year ending March 31st will be submitted, following which officers for the ensuing year will be elected. One important matter for discussion is the suggested scheme of re-organ-isation and reconstruction. As Friday is a moonlight night a large attendance of .members is earnestly requested.
