MATAMATA TOWN BOARD.
Adjourned Meeting. The adjourned meeting of the Matamata Town board was held on Thursday. Mr J. Price presided, and Messrs H. A. Kelso, J. F. Vosper and W. A. Gordon were also present. Leave of absence was granted Mr G. G. Bell. • WATER SUPPLY. The chairman related to the members particulars of the recent journey to the falls at
Okauia with the engineer, Mr Lockie Gannon. He stated that the latter had been instructed to make a Burvey and draw up a scheme. He invited the members to accompany the engineer and himself to the top of the range to investigate the catchment area. . £A RESIDENT CONSTABLE. The Minister for Justice in response to representations made by the board through the Hon. W. H. Hemes, M.P., stated that owing to the depletion of the police force it was impossible at present to station a constable, at Matamata, but that when the force was again up to full strength the request would be acceded to. HYDRO-ELECTRIO SCHEME. iThe Hamilton Chamber of Commerce wrote suggesting that to further the work of the league each local body represented at the recent conference should contribute £2 2s towards the" cost. gjJThe chairman said he would be quite agreeable to contribute, but he thought the amount asked for was too much. He would suggest that the matter be deferred. Mr W. A, Gordon spoke similarly. , , It was decided tHat a reply be forwarded stating that the board eould not see the reason for such a contribution.
