At the Magistrate's Court last week aland agent’s license was issued to Mr J. Clothier. Mr Clothier has commenced business in the library building.
At the Matamata Police court last Friday Bertram W. M. Bailey was fined 5s for infringing the by-laws by riding a bicycle on the footpath.
On Wednesday next the film creation from Hall Caine’s great novel “The Deemster’’ will be screened at Matamata. The author’s son, Derwent Hall Caine takes the part of Dan Mylrea in this tragic love story. The picture has received such favorable press reports from the large centres that there is no need for us to enlarge on it.
Official advice has been received that it is hoped all 1916 men of the Expeditionary Force will embark on their . return to the Dominion by the end of April, 1917 men by the end of May, and 1918 men by the end of June. New Zealand correspondents of soldiers should restrict mail matter, more particularly parcels and papers accordingly. Bedroom suite for sale.
