WAIOMOU.
A largely attended meeting of settlers, presided over by Mr Carruth, was held at Waiomou on Friday afternoon, after the Okoroire railway settlers meeting. Addresses were given by Messrs Parland| and Danials. The addresses were based on a proposal to build either a cheese or casein factory, to be called the Okoroire fact -ry. On a vote being taken the majority were in favour of a casein factory, to be erected under the management of the New Zealand Dairy Association. Over 450 cows were guaranteed, and a site purchased from Mr Dee on the junction of 5 roads. Messrs P. Dee (chairman), R. Carruth, E. Gubb, A. Peterson, and E J. Brown were elected a local committee.
A meeting of settlers is to be called shortly to discuss a proposal to erect a hall either at Okoroire springs or Waiomou, four free sites being offered.
