The final instalment of the serial the " Mystery of the Double Cross," will,be screened at the Matamata hall on Saturday. Notice is given that the suplementary electoral roll in connection with the special licensing poll to be held on April 10th, will close on Thursday, March 6th. A cake and apron sale, to be followed in the evening by a ■ocial and dance, will be held in aid of the Anglican Church Vicarage fund on Thursday next. We learn from the town clerk' Mr B. Blennerhassett, that building permits for the past few weeks have been issued by the Town Board at the rate of about four per week. At the Matamata County council meeting on Friday, it was decided to extend Murphy's sanding contract at Taihoa to embody work on Madill's hill. Cr. Mr Taylor is a brother of Mr B. C. Taylor, of Matamata, with whom he had spent a three weeks'holiday. Prior to coming to the Waikato he had been assistant - commandant of the prisoner of war camps at Featherston and Somes Island. He was a Main Body man, and saw nearly four years' service.

.On Sunday last Mr Hugh Rentoul, of Te Kawa, met with an accident, which rendered him unconscious, on the road about six miles from Te Awamutu. He was taken to the Waikato hospital, where his injuries were found to consist of the fracture of the base of the skull, probably caused through a fall from his horse. He recovered consciousness on Sunday night, but has been in a critical condition since. Upon inquiry at the hospital yesterday afternoon we learned that his condition was unchanged. Mr Rentoul is very well-known in the Matamata district, having been schoolmaster at Wardville for about eighteen months. Furniture and plough for sale. The Hungahunga Drainage board, notice.
