ON THE SCREEN.
Woman Between Friends The " Woman Between Friends" is the title of the great drama to be screened at Matamata on Saturday. This story tell? of a sculptor and an artist who swore eternal friendship on the eve of the sculptor's marriage. But before very long the artist ran away with his friend's wife, and in'due course tire of her with the result that she became an outcast and eventually killed in an accident which her husband witnessed. The artist in the meantime, meets a young girl, whoso part is played by Alice Joyce. He introduces her to the sculptor, who for the first time learns from a chance remark that it was the artist who had robbed him of his wife. Ho then decides to be rovenged and oxtracts a promise from the artist that ho will commit suicide on a certain date. How in the end ho relents and tries to save his false friend, how in the end the sculptor loves and is loved by the young girl, and how he relents towards his false friend, and tries to prevent the execution of tho promise of suicide, make an intensely stirring finish to a story which is full of action from first to last. There is a good supporting programme.
