Miss Flett, who has been on a month's visit to her sister, Mrs Wilcox, in Wellington, arrived home in Matamata on Monday. Major H. J. Moore-Jones, after about four years active service, has resumed his position as headmaster of the Matamata district school. Mr R. Carnachan has been appointed temporary headmaster of the Hamilton East school. Friends who met Private Frank Hosking on his return to Auckland state that he is looking exceptionally well, and is not likely to be greatly inconvenienced by the injury sustained to his arm. He intimated that he wouid shortly be visiting Matamata.
Private R. (Dick) Holmes, after two years on active service in France returned by the Oxfordshire on Saturday, and arrived in Matamata on Monday when he was greeted by a large circle of friends. Ladies handbag found. Draught horse impounded. Young lady requires board and residence. Tennis summer dance tomorrow night. Wickett's )sale starts February 17th. Lewis and Dallimoro, Cambridge, have money to lend. Kitchen maid and housemaidwaitress wanted. Northern Roller Milling Co. Ltd have a notico in this issuo. R. A. -Walton's notico to motorists and milkers. Clearing sale of Mrs Luman's furniture (Morgan's tea-rooms) to-morrow (Friday). Messrs Loughlin Bros., house furnishers, and land agents will buy or sell furniture and aro prepared to hold auction sales in any part of the district—distance no object.
