METEOROLOGICAL.

The rainfall for Matamata for the month of December, as recorded by Mr W. Kirknoss at “ Greenmeadows,” was 4.29 inches, which fell on II days. The heaviest fall was 1.35 inches on the 29th. The total for the year was 60.45, being over five inches less than the previous year. The figures for the past six years were: —1913, 45.81 inches; 1914, 30.46 inches; 1915, 51.70 inches; 1916,54.27 inches; 1917, 65.24 inches. At Tirau. reports Mr F. Shannon, the rainfall for the month was 3.14 inches, which fell on 12 days, the most being 1.15 inches on December 28th. For the corresponding month of the previous year the fall was 2.13 inches. The total for the past year was 50.83 inches.
