Influenza in Matamata
To the Editor. Sir,- — Kindly allow mo a small space in your columns to make a few remarks regarding the influenza outbreak in our midst. Should | the epidemic become widespread * I'< am afraid there would be a panic aniong the people, as some of them are almost crazy with fear now. I consider it selfish and cowardly. For 'allowing one of my girls to remain in a house, where the influenza had entered and claimed three victims, we were insulted and treated as though we had the plague. We wore also accused of carrying germs. I wish to inform the public that every precautionary measure had been taken to avoid this. Tho insults became so unbearable that I was obliged to take the girl away and leave an old lady to manage as best she could. Perhaps some of these people will require help themselves ere long. Trusting, however, they will try to exercise a more Christianlike spirit.—l am, etc., “RATHER INDIGNANT.”
