METEOROLOGICAL

The rainfall at Matamata for the month of October as recorded by Mr W. Kirkness was 10.18 inches which fell on 20 days. The heaviest fall was 2.80 inches on the Bth, following 1.45 inches on the 7th, making in all 4.25 inches ih 30 hours. During the past 6 ] /-j years, the only month with more rain was February 1917—11.38 inches. The record taken by Mr F. Shannon, at Tirau was 7.36 inches. Rain fell on 18 days. The fall was the heaviest of the ten months of this year, with February next with 7.01 inches. In October 1917 the fall was only 3.19 inches.
