VVAIWERO DRAINAGE AREA A deputation from tho Waiwero drainage area —Messrs A. Rutherford and G. P. Goodfellow —waited on the board with a view to obtaining the board's assistance in cleaning out and deepening the Waiwero stream. —The deputationists were informed that as tho area in question had not yet been gazetted as attached to the Hungahnnga Drainage district the board could not legally expend any money therein, and advised them to find the money amongst themselves to do the necessary work, the board to compensate them for the work done out of loan moneys when raised for this particular area. It was formally resolved that the board approves of the .inclusion of the Waiwero drainage area within the Hungahunga Drainage district. BRUMBY'S DRAIN. Correspondence was read from Mr J. Sheehan, Manawaru, strongly protesting at the delay in providing his and his neighbor's properties with an outlet, for which £25 had been paid in by them. He notified his withdrawal from the arrangement owing to the delay, and the writer asked that his share of the £25 be utilised in payment of rates due. The Board discussed the position and the correspondence, and finally tho chairman moved that compliance with Mr Sheehan's request, the board use the money lodged as a contribution towards the cost of providing him with an outlet drain through Brumby's and McLaren's to pay overdue rates. —Agreed to. It was further resolved that Messrs Sheehan and Brumby be informed that the board is still prepared to call tenders, for an outlet drain, provided Sheehan will contribute his quota; failing Sheehan agreeing, the money already lodged by Brumby to be returned to him. EMPLOYERS' CONFERENCE. The chairman was appointed as the board's delegate to attend the Employers' Federation meeting at Auckiand. A WAHAROA DRAIN. It was decided to inform Mr G. W. Ogden and other Waharoa settlers that the board is prepared to enlarge the outlet drain recently constructed out of loan moneys advanced by them, provided they find the cash necessary to cover the cost of the extra work.
