TIRAU.

A meeting of sportsmen was held on Saturday evening, when Mr E. G. Clarke, secretary of the Matamata Fish and Game Conservation society, addressed those present on the aims and object of the Auckland Acclamatisation society. Mr W. F. Bell occupied the chair. It was unanimously decided to form a society, to cover the Tirau and Okoroire districts, to be called the Tirau Fish and Game Conservation society. Officers were elected: — President, Mr W. F.Bell; vicepresident, Mr J. W. Anderson; committee, Messrs Litchfied, G. Warren, Coates, Marshall, E. G. Clarke, L. Bell, J. Watson, Nelson ; secretary, Mr S. C. Snell. It was decided that the subscription be 2s 6d and to affiliate with the Auckland society. A resolution was also passed making worm legal bait for fishing in tho Waihou river. Thirty members were promised at the meeting, and it is anticipated that it will reach quite 50.
