An idea of the losses due to submarines can bo obtained from the following statement in the “ Scientific American”:—lf we take as our standard unit tho fabricated ship, which has a gross tonnage of 5,500, with a length of 343 feet, we shall find that tho submarine sinkings for the 18 months ended June 30th, would make a line of wrecks 100 miles long, with a space of but a dozen feet hetweon tho stern of one wreck and tho nose of the one bohind it. At the annual meeting of the Waihou Valley Co-operative Dairy Coy., the chairman, in moving tho adoption of tho annual report said : The first year’s operations of the company were covered by £G,995 18s 7d—tho first year the company made glaxo—the turnover was £17,852, while tho year just closed shows an increase of 335 per cent, on tho preceding twelve months, or a total of £77,813. In connection with tho payment for the past season it has been arranged that a further payment of will he made, making a total payment of 2s lL£d for the season. The 1918-19 output of Glaxo up to 2QOO tons has been purchased by the Imperial authorities.
