CLEARING SALE At Mr J. Kelso's clearing sale at Shaftsbury last week big prices ruled. The dairy herd of 48 grade Jersey cows and heifers averaged £2O 18s, three animals bringing £35 each. A pedigree cow made 56 gns., a yearling heifer 26 gns., and a two-year heifer 23 gns. MATAMATA. Tbe Farmers' Auctioneering Company held its monthly sale at Matamata on Wednesday. There was a full yarding and spirited bidding. Sheep were very firm. Fresh dropped calves brought good prices, as high as 265, sold by Mr J. Vf. Finncrty. Others were in the region of that figure. Prices were : Fat hoggets, 30s to 345; good store hoggets, 23s 9d to 28s Id; heavy fat wethers, £2 9s (bought by Mr W. C. Vincent); good yearly steers, £5 17s to £0 9s; good yearling heifers, £6 3s to £7 ss; mixed sex yearlings, £3 12s 6d to £4 15s; smaller, £2 5s to £3 Is; heavy fat cows, £l7 5s (sold by Mr A. J. Tong); smaller, £ll to £l2 10s ; fresh conditioned cows, £8 6s to £9 16s ; store cows, £4 10s to £6 17s ; good 2-year empty heifers, £7 7s to £8 12s 6d ; 'others, £6 15s to £7 ; 20-month to 2-year steers, £6 15s to £7 7s; fresh dropped calves (good), 1q.3 to 26s (J.
