N.Z. FARMERS' UNION.

Matamata Branch Meeting. The monthly meeting of the Matamata branch of the N.Z. Farmers' Union was held on Friday last, Mr H. Rollett presiding. Ten other memhers were present. CONDOLENCE. Before proceeding with the business the chairman moved a vote of condolence to the Matamata families who had recently had relatives killed at the front. The chairman also welcome Mr B. Barugh, on his safe return from active service. HYDRO-ELECTRIC SCHEMA Mr A. Bowler reported having attended the hydro - electric scheme meeting in Auckland. Through the discussion which followed it was found advisable to gather more information on the subject and it was decided to write to the Taitapu Dairy Co., asking for full information as to the system by which electric power is supplied to the farmers of their district by the Lake Coleridge scheme. COMMITTEE. Several matters were dealt with in committee. The meeting was also occupied in discussing trading matters.
