HUNGAHUNGA DRAINAGE BOARD.
September SVSeetmg. TKo following trustees were present at last Saturday’s meeting of the above board :—Messrs J. A. Clothier (chairman), J, Orr, F. E. Hughes, W. Crawsha w .andi J. Boh lea. BY-LAWS. The Western Taieri Land Drainage board wrote agreeing" to coY operate with similar boards in preparing a model set of by-laws. JUGO SLAV CONTRACT. Mr John Gullen, Commissioner of Jugo-Slavs, wrote consenting to Messrs A. S. and L. Sulenta proceeding with their extensive contract under the board. PAYMENTS. ’’’ Mr Jas. Blyth, Waharoa, forwarded cheques towards the payment of drainage extension works between his own and Thompson’s properties, and up to Weeks’ boundary. Mr A. K. Weeks, Waharoa, also forwarded cheques from the parties interested in an outlet drain. The engineer reported that the contract had been completed satisfactorily. Mr Crawford, manager for Mr E. R. Chudleigb, forwarded £ll 14s as his contribution towards cleaning out 78 chains of the Piraunui drain. The second contract from the Mill bridge to the Tramway bridge (71 chains) has been satisfactorily completed by Paul Pechar. QUAYNE’S DRAIN. Mr Clothier said. Guayne’s drain required some attention. . It would not be an expensive work, and would give Quayne’s property relief, . LOAN APPROVED. The secretary to the- Treasury notified thaL -the Acting-Minister for Finance had given his consent to the board raising £SOOO for land., drainage purposes. • i , • • NO. 2 DRAIN. ‘ The chairman said Mr Crawford had asked that /some cleaning out of No. 2 drain be authorised, and he had given permission to go ahead with it. Approved; : j OFFERS ACCEPTED. ; On Mr Pohlen’s motion it was decided to accept the offer of Messrs Thompßop and . Smith, and the engineer will have the work proceeded with as soon as the necessary money is lodge.dL,. j j ~* . . A similar course was adopted in the case of Messrs . Ogden and Foreman.,;'.’ 1 ",,; ! ’* A NGARUA DRAIN. The ohairman . reported that Mr Geo. Given was desirous of the boar f l putting in a drain through his son’s property up to his own land.,. j After discussing the position the clerk was instructed to inform Mr Given that as the board has already provided an outlet drain it cannot give any further assistance. BRUMBY’S DRAIN. Mr Hughes reported that Messrs Brumby and Sheehan had agreed to provide half the cost of the work up to Brumby’s boundary, and to continue the work up to Sheehau’s boundary themselves*. He had also conferred with Mr McLaren, who had offered to withdraw his objection on certain conditions. ; Mr Brumby waited on the board and discussed the position fully, after which it was decided to accept the offer of Messrs Brumby arid Sheehan to contribute the half cost of the drain through McLaren’s up to Brumby’s boundary, the work to be proceeded with as soon as the money is lodged. WAIWHERO AREA. 1 y .
