CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.

THE need of a Matamata Chamber of Commerce has been freely spoken of during the past few months and something in the way of bringing together the business people of the town appears probable. The wonder is that action is so long delayed. The work that a Chamber of Commerce can do is practically unlimited, and is always for the advancement of a town and the business conducted in it. Many matters which hardly come within the scope of the Town Board may be dealt with by a Chamber of Commerce, which oft-times in instances is an excellent advisory body to the former. For its younger members a Chamber is an admirable preparatory school for municipal honors later. We expect to see the town well represented in the event of a meeting being called. Matamata on all sides is surrounded by towns which have seen the wisdom of forming such bodies, and have derived benefit accordingly.
