THE BLUE QUEEN.
Social At Matamata. A very pleasant dance, in aid of the Blue Queen, was held in Matamata town hall on Friday evening. It being such a lovely night the attendance was large. The floor was in very good order the smooth surface being much appreciated. The music was supplied by Mr P. Ingham, whilst Mr McDermott made a very capable M.C. He was assisted by Mr Btorke. During the course of the evening Mr J. Pohlen put up for auction a small “Teddy Bear ” which after being bought and handed back several times was finally “knocked down” to Mr J. Steen. This curio realised the sum of £4 Is 6d in all. The total profit on the function was £l2 Bs. Part of this amount, 6s 3d, was made up by the sale of button-holes, 1 forwarded by Mrs Graveson. Two competitions were left unfinished. The thanks of the committee is due to many Matamata enthusiasts who assisted throughout the evening. Extra dances were played by Misses K. James and M. Robinson.
