The Gr*ell Mystery. A rattling story of modern -detective methods is told in “ The Grell Mystery ” the Greater Vitagraph drama starring Earle Williams, to be screened at Matamata on Saturday. The Vitagraph company has to a certain extent specialised in this form of drama, and in this instance has reached highwater mark. A wealthy clubman is very firm on the theory that every criminal leaves a clue, but in searching for the murderer of his friend Robert Grell, his investigations lead to the conviction that the deed was done by the girl he adored. Then he is suddenly confronted with fact that Robert Grell is alive, although h'e had seen the dead body on the library floor. Fate comes along with other inbelievable surprises and the story grows in fascination as it unfolds. Miriam Miles takes the role of Earle Williams’ sweetheart and Jean Dumar is the fiancee of the supposedly murdered Robert Grell. A Gaumont graphic and a great Triangle comedy of 2000 ft make up an exceptionally good programme.
