STOCK SALES.
MATAMATA. Dalgcty & Co. bold their monthly stock sale at Matamaa on Wednesday. There was a good yarding, but buyers for all except fat stock were searee. There was little demand for dairy stock, the reason apparently being the prospective shortage of food rnd bad" weather. Prices were: Fat cows £ll to £l3, fresh-conditioned cows £7 10s to £9, store cows to £7, well-grown weaner steers £4 17s 6d to £5 10s, heifers £4 to Mo 2s, dairy cows (springers) £lO to £l4, springing heifers £9 to £l2 10s. The Fanners' Auctioneering Co. Ltd. held its monthly stock sale at Matamata on Wednesday. There was a splendid entry of .yearling cattle, for which there was jjood competition. Two pens of good, fat wether*, sold by Mr White, realised 30s, while a pen for Mr G. Johnston brought 34s Od, all sold to Mr Corrigan. Nine fat steers, 6old for Mr J. Pohlcn, realised £l6 9s being purchased by Mr S. Tanner (Waihi). Fourteen 20 months to 2 year steers sold by Mr J. H. Harding realised £8 2s per head, while fourteen for Mr W. F. Harding brought £8 Is. Prices were:—Fat hoggets 22s Gd to 275, fat wethers 33s 6d to 355, fat steers £lO 9s, lighter £li 12s, fat cows (heavy) £l3 4s to £l3 6s, lighter £lO 10s to £ll 12s, 20 month to 2 year steers £7 19s to £8 Is, good steer calves £5 Is to £5 4s, smaller £4 to £4 12s, heifer calves (good) £4 to £5, smaller £2 15s to £3 18s, mixed sexes £3 8s to £3 13s, beso dairy cows £ls to £l7 ss, others £l2 10s to £l4 10s, best heifers £l4 to £ls, others £lO 10s to £l2 10s.
