CLEARING SALES.
The Farmers' Auctioneering company held ft clearing sale at Turanga-o-moana on Monday for Mr H. E. Porritt. Although there was a large attendance bidding was extremely dull, and prices were lower than recorded at any sale this Beason. The cattle were not looking at anything near their best, but perhaps as much to affect the sale as this was the abnormal weather conditions of the past week. Farmers appeared diffident about adding to stocks already held. A number ofanimals were passed. Springing cows averaged about £ll 14s, cows in milk £l4 ss; 26 heifers in calf averaged from £8 to £9. There was no sale for Shorthorn or Jersey bulls. Messrs J. W. Finnerty and H. Herbert divided honors for the top price cow, each obtaining one at £l6 10s. Other buyers were Messrs Troughton, Hunter, Ruthe, Hughes, Edwards and Stockley. A Red Cross heifer brought £lO 10s. There was little demand for draught horses, only two being sold—a mare at £ll 5s and an unbroken 3-year gelding at £lO. The Farmers' Auctioneering company held a most successful sale on account of Mr Zinsli who has sold his property on No. 8 road, Tatuanui. Cows brought big prices ranging from 14 guineas to 24 guineas. Everything sold realised top prices, and the seller should be well satisfied with the sale. At another sale between Waitoa and Tatuanui, that of Mrs M. A. Perrin, who has disposed of her property to Messrs Cowie and Sturman on July Bth, everything went off fairly well.
