OKOROIRE.
RED CROSS WORK. A well attended meeting of re- / sidents of Okoroire and Waiomou was held at tho Okoroire hotel on Thursday to consider ways and means to raise funds for the Red Cross funds. Mr Carruth presided and briefly outlined what had be§n done by the Tirau committee. The following committee was elected Mesdames C. Allen, Bayly, Cal’.ighan, Lewis, Barry and Muilholland. Messrs Carruth, Bayly, Cailighnn, H. Bennett, C. Allen, Deo, Lewis, Goodwin, Long and Muilholland. Mr Carruth was appointed chairman, Mr P. Dee, secretary, Mr R. G. Lewis, treasurer, Mr W. Laurence, auditor. Miss CalJighan was unamiouslv chosen as Okoroire’s queen. Afternoon tea was generously supplied by Mrs Burry and much appreciated. On Friday, night a dance was held in the Waiomou school and over £l7 was raise, while a lamb sold by Mr Goodwin realised over £l3 at the last Tirau sale.
