RED CROSS.

A well attended meeting of the Matamata Red Cross branch was held on Thursday afternoon in the Town hall. Four new members were added to the roll. The ladies take a keen interest in the work, which is shown by the large amount brought in. Mesdames A. C. Vosper and Porritt provided afternoon tea. The box packed at the close of the meeting contained the following^—2l pyjama suits, 22 shirts, 11 bed jackets, 30 towels, 18 pillow slips, 6 handkerchiefs, 1 knitted vest, 1 knitted chest-o-back protector, 4 pairs socks, 2 balaclavas, 12 Red Cross bags, 6 prs. invalid slippers, 6 pairs deck slippers, 5 face cloths, 9 eye bandages, magazines and ravellings. Included from Turanga-o-moana:—6 Red Cross bags, 11 shirts, 5 pyjama suits, 6 pairs invalid slippers, 6 prs deck slippers, 1 chest-o-back protector.
