OKAUIA.
At the monthly meeting of the Farmers' Union held on Monday there were present Messrs Jones, Baxendine, Barton, Austing, Hopkins, Sutherland, R. Garland, Grenville, Fogerty, Herbert, Mathers, Bell, Curtis, Williamson, and 0. Garland, the vicepresident, Mr Hopkins, being in the chair. It was decided to ask the Agricultural Department for a demonstration on pruning and spraying of fruit trees. The meeting decided on the months of July and March for poisoning rabbits, and pledged themselves to poison in those months. Those who do not poison are to be reported. Absent members to be informed by the secretary, who was also directed to write and ask the Agricultural Department to supply the poison. The secretary was directed to pay 17s 6d per head for all financial members to the sub-provin-cial secretary. Mr 0. Garland gave an account of his interview with the Minister! of Lands re the Larsen property, I and Messrs Austing and R. Gar-1 land gave some account of their visit to the annual conference at Auckland. On the suggestion of Mr Herbert it was decided to organise for the purpose of being prepared with the information necessary at the forthcoming meeting re the dried milk factory at Matamata.
