OKAUIA.

A concert and dance was held at Okauia last week to farewell Private MacDonald. Those taking part in the concert were Misses Clematis Peat (pian® solos), R. Garland, Norma Garland, Messrs Fogerty, Garland and Hollis. Mr O. Garland, after an appropriate speech, presented the guest with a set of military brushes. Private MacDonald suitably responded. Mrs Austing played the dance music with her usual ability, and was occasionally relieved by Mr Hollis. A very pleasant and successful evening was concluded by wishing the departing soldier “ good luck,” and by singing “ For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow ” and “ Auld Lang Syne.” For Influenza talco Woods’ Great Peppermint Cure. Never fails, 1/6, 2/6.
